A Small World Indeed
When I started my business I never envisioned how far and wide my work would travel. Throughout the years I’ve received many great photos from customers all over the world including the South Pole! I appreciate each and every one of the emails I receive with your stories and in turn I use this to motivate me to continue on this path for affordable tone because I realize that in a small way I’m also making a contribution.
Some time ago I received an email from Brian relating the story of how he met another guitar player. Here’s part of what Brian wrote:
“I met Harmon Parker after the death of a mutual professional guitarist friend, Jack Aknin. Jack and I had become Zen Drive fans together. Jack had the tube version and I have the solid state version. When Harmon and I were brought together after the tragedy of Jack’s death, we got together in my home studio to talk and play guitars while he was here from Kenya for the service. Harmon is a great guitar player himself and he was blown away by my Zen Drive. So I contacted you and had you rush one to me as a gift for him before he returned to Kenya. Harmon has been a missionary in Kenya for 20 years building bridges for the indigenous people over dangerous rivers. His life is AMAZING and last year he was awarded the CNN Heroes award for this important work.”
Here’s some information from the website: www.bridgingthegapafrica.org
Bridging the Gap, Inc. works with marginalized groups of people in sub-Saharan Africa to build bridges that provide people with safe crossings across dangerous rivers, gullies, and ravines.
In every instance, our bridges immediately improve the quality of life in these communities as their daily foot-travel burdens are lessened and their risks of losing loved ones are greatly reduced.
Our bridges transform lives by:
- Allowing children to reach schools safely, everyday.
- Improving community access to healthcare.
- Reducing travel time to market centers.
- Preventing accidental death from drowning.
- Eliminating crocodile and hippo attacks, which can cause severe injuries and death.
Please visit their website and get more information. Tell Harmon we sent you there.

Guitar Player Awards the Nu-Valve “Editors’ Pick”
We were very excited to see the April 2010 issue of Guitar Player in our mailbox, and even more excited after reading the “19 New Stompboxes” article. Here is an excerpt:
“The Nu-Valve excels at tube-style overdrive with a British accent, and it has plenty of gain range to cover anything from blues to rock to classic metal. The dynamic response is excellent, and the Voice control doesn’t radically alter the sound, but rather functions like an amp’s presence control to allow you to fine-tune the top-end for exactly the distortion textures you want from humbucker or single-coil pickups. The Nu-Valve can also deliver a lot of output regardless of where the Gain knob is set, which makes it abundantly useful as a tube-powered booster for overdriving your amp’s front end. What a sweet pedal, and well deserving of an Editors’ Pick Award.”
